Amor Fati

What comes, must go
Once it goes, it rarely returns
These are nature’s law;
The rule of evolution and extinction.
I am nothing but a microscopic mortal being
And yet, what good deeds have I done
In my previous life to deserve
The Almighty Creator’s beautiful works?
Air, light, water, green earth
And You!
Passed through the forest of yesterdays
Flowed into this living plaza of today
Standing before the infinite ocean of tomorrow
Breathing
As a human being; As one and only true me—
Amor Fati*
Reverently, very reverently,
I want to make a toast
To you, to me, and to every moment
Of joy, sorrow, and pain that touched my life.
*Amor Fati: A Latin phrase for "love of fate". A positive attitude toward life, the core philosophy of German theoretical philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900).
