Qualifications/Requirements
BS in Food Science or Nutrition
Must have more than 2 years of R&D
experiences in food science, nutraceutical and/or confectionary industry.
Knowledge of ingredients functionality,
product evaluation, health and nutrition, food manufacturing processes,
microbiology, quality assurance principles, and market research
principles.
Familiarity with Natural Health Product
ingredients and Health Canada NHPD regulations
Knowledge of the Canadian Food Safety Systems,
SOP’s, GMP’s, HACCP
Strong cross-functional leadership skills and
demonstrated ability to function effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced
environment as well as manage multiple projects
Outstanding teamwork, leadership and
communications skills (verbal and written)
Excellent verbal and written communications
skills along with computer skills
Participate in ideation and concept refinement
for new R&D projects.
Research, source, and communicate new product
concepts, methods of preparation, ingredients, flavors, product use,
processes, packaging, nutritional requirements, etc.
Design protocols and conduct scientific
experiments to assess, monitor, and improve product formulation and
quality. Includes quality, analytical, shelf life, and stability testing.
Design, plan, and execute experiments and
trials at all scales, gathering and analyzing data, reporting results, and
making recommendations for further testing and next steps.
Design and implement changes in formulation
and process to improve product performance, costs, quality and
manufacturing efficiency.
Formulate products, and create nutritionals
and ingredient statements using Genesis
Work with Regulatory to ensure all
ingredients, specifications (formulation, labelling), and process meet
internal and external requirements prior to launch.
Thorough knowledge of R&D (food analysis,
chemistry, safety, sensory), engineering and food manufacturing
