We are starting up the Entry to Hospitality Careers for Women program again.
EHCW is a fully-funded course offered by Vancouver Community Collegein partnership with Pacific Immigrant Resources society.
It offers the opportunity for refugee and immigrant women to learn Foodsafe, cleaning, and hospitality skills to prepare them for work in the hotel, restaurant, and senior care home industry.
Onsite childminding, uniforms, and transportation costs are also covered.
The program is twelve weeks including a two-week practicum where students can gain Canadian work experience.
The next program is starting on September 11, 2017, and we have 16 spaces open for the cohort.
In order to be eligible, participants should:
- Be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or legally entitled to work in Canada (refugee claimants with a work permit or SIN number are also eligible)
- Have a CLB English level of 4 and above for speaking and listening, and 2 and above for reading and writing
- Be unemployed and not on EI
- Be able to commit to a part-time program (10:30am-1:30pm) for 12 weeks (childminding available) beginning on September 11.
If you know of any families who may be interested, please pass my contact info on to them.
I've attached the program poster and copied the info session schedule below.
Thanks so much!
