Sample Preperation Worker (VANSP_201610)

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Sample Prep Supervisor, the Sample Prep Worker position is based in Vancouver, BC and performs duties relating to the preparation of client samples for analysis, including using equipment to crush, pulverize and/or sieve rock samples. This is a physically demanding position working afternoon shift (3pm to 11pm) or night shift (11pm to 7am) hours in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Working overtime and on weekends may be required as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Prepare rock samples by crushing, pulverizing or sieving using appropriate equipment as instructed

 Ensure fast and accurate processing of incoming samples in priority sequence

 Use of barcode scanner as required

 Comply with all laboratory safety procedures and requirements of applicable ISO Quality system Standard Operating Procedures

 Other tasks as assigned or required from time to time

Experience and Qualifications

 Minimum completion of high school

 Experience in sample preparation an asset but on-the-job training will be provided

 Experience using heavy equipment an asset

 Excellent eye-hand coordination

 Must be available to work afternoon shift hours (3pm to 11pm) and/or night shift hours (11pm to 7am)

Other Specifications

 Starting wage of $15.00 per hour

 Shift premium of $2.50 per hour for each hour worked in the night shift

 Located approximately 15 – 20 minutes’ walk from the Marine skytrain station

 Company shuttle transporting employees to and from the Marine skytrain station at the beginning and at the end of work shifts
